How a handful of neighbors turned casual favors into a year-round promise to show up for each other.
How We Started
It Started With a Spare Seat at the Table
Grovehaven Alliance began in 2011 as an informal habit among neighbors: an extra grocery bag left on a porch, a ride offered to a medical appointment, a Saturday spent checking in on someone who lived alone. What started as a handful of people looking out for each other slowly became something bigger — a shared understanding that no one in our community should have to face a hard season without support.
Today, that same spirit powers three community programs and a growing circle of volunteers, but the goal hasn't changed. We're not interested in handing out services from a distance. We show up, we listen first, and we keep coming back — because trust is built one visit at a time, not one transaction.
